St. Catharines Roma Wolves

Club History

Began operations as Club Roma in 1967 with one senior team in the Niagara Peninsula Soccer League. After two league championships and three play-off championships, they moved up to the Inter-City League in 1972. They won the league and play-off championship in 1973 and the play-off championship again in 1974 and 1975. In 1976 they won the Triple Crown - the league, cup and play-off championships.

At the same time, the club had expanded to include youth teams and a womens' team along with the mens' teams in the Niagara Peninsula Soccer League and the Inter-City League.

In December 1976, Club Roma applied for, and was granted, a franchise in the National Soccer League and changed their name to St. Catharines Roma. They were a member of the National Soccer League and the Canadian National Soccer League from 1977 through 1997 and enjoyed many successes during that time. Their crowning achievement was in 1995 when they won the CNSL Triple Crown - winners of the league, cup and playoff championships. They won the cup again in 1996 and in 1997 were undefeated in winning the league and also won the play-off championship.

Operating under the name St. Catharines Roma Wolves since 1995, the club is looking forward to being a contender for major honours in the inaugural season of the Canadian Soccer League (Ontario Division).
